Help Connect Someone to Care
MDCC accepts referrals from healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, case managers, and other professionals helping individuals connect with mental health care. Our Access Team will follow up directly with the person being referred to learn more about their needs and available care options.
Who Can Be Referred?
Maria Droste accepts referrals for children, teens, and adults seeking outpatient mental health or substance use support. Services are available in person at our Denver location and through telehealth across Colorado.
Referrals may include individuals seeking support for a wide range of mental health concerns, as well as those who may benefit from ASAM Level 1.0 outpatient substance use disorder treatment. Insurance and sliding-scale options are available to help reduce financial barriers to care.

How the Referral Process Works
- Submit a Referral
Providers, schools, community organizations, case managers, and other professionals can refer someone to MDCC for counseling or outpatient substance use services. - Our Access Team Reaches Out to the Client
Our Access Coordinator reaches out directly, in English or Spanish, to learn more about the client’s needs, preferences, insurance or payment options, and what they’re looking for in care. - Confirm the Right Level of Care
Our Access Coordinator helps determine whether MDCC’s outpatient services are appropriate for the client’s needs. If another service or a higher level of care would be more appropriate, we help connect the client with outside resources whenever possible. - We Identify the Right Placement
Our team considers clinical needs, client preferences, and clinician availability when determining placement. - Counseling Begins
Once connected, clients typically meet with their clinician weekly, with care individualized around their needs, goals, and treatment plan.
Insurance & Affordability

Our Access Team can discuss insurance coverage, sliding-scale eligibility, and payment options directly with the person being referred.
